![]() ![]() This socket is of a different type to the author s HF rig (Icom 756) and not interchangeable. In the author s case the rig is the Icom 821 that does have an accessory socket. The purpose of this article is to help those with rigs that do not have accessory sockets. However, many VHF / UHF rigs do not have these sockets. ![]() These handbooks refer to HF transceivers that usually have accessory sockets provided at the rear of the rig for connection to a computer via an interface. Here is the first obstacle for the operator who wishes to use a digital mode on VHF. Most of the handbooks dealing with digital modes do not cover VHF transceivers.
